Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pay my student loan on Pay.gov?

No. You must pay the loan processor assigned when the loan was created. You should have received a notice from them at that time, and regular statements.

Can I get my outstanding balance from Pay.gov?

No. Pay.gov does not have any balance information. You must contact the loan processor assigned when the loan was created.

Can I get my annual statement of payment from Pay.gov?

No. Contact your loan processor directly.

How can I find out who my loan processor is?

  1. Contact your bank. Ask the bank to provide you with 10-digit ACH company ID and the 15-digit ACH TRACE number for your most recent loan payment.

  2. Contact Pay.gov Customer Support with the information from the bank. Pay.gov can then provide a contact phone number.
